Step off the train at Saijo and you can see the chimneys before you leave the platform. Working breweries, red brick stacks and white plaster walls, all inside a few hundred metres. Nada and Fushimi, the other two of the big three, are spread across whole city districts. This one you can walk.

The tour is run by the local tourism association rather than by any single brewery, so it moves between houses instead of selling you one label. You taste as you go, and the guide explains what is actually happening inside the buildings you are standing in.

English guiding is part of the standard offer, which is unusual outside the big cities and is the main reason this is on the site.

Thirty-five minutes from Hiroshima Station. Easy to fit into a morning, and the brewery streets are worth a wander afterwards on your own.
